I haven't talked to anyone this morning, but I went to see Don at Kootenai Medical Center last night and his condition was grim. It was midnight; everyone had gone home to get some rest. They let me in to ICU to see him, perhaps because of my credentials as a member of the clergy.

He was unconscious and on life-support. The nurse told me he is in sepsis and could die. She said he has an aggressive form of leukemia. I held his hand and prayed for him and then left to keep a vigil in the hospital chapel room. I came back an hour later and found him still unconscious. I prayed for him again and then went home.

I say he was "unconscious" and not just sleeping because the nurse tried to wake him both times. He is very, very sick and the illness is suspiciously similar to another incident I am personally aware of from about a year ago. I fear that he might be suffering from an exotic fungal infection that has overwhelmed his immune system. It would be non-contagious requiring specific target perimeters and a non-random delivery mechanism.

In my opinion, we need a miracle. Pray for him right now.

James

In loving memory offounder and editor-in-chief, Don Harkins
